The 12 year old in me wants to say sperm, since giving birth alone often results in death, and an individual spermotazoa can't be seen by the naked eye. Though the that answer gives cause for worry about the 'never meant to let me in line'.
Robin, as you say I should certainly hope that sperm is meant to be let in when it does perform its intended function. Further, a sperm can be seen if one has a microscope. The answer to this riddle exists merely in the hypothetical until it is close to you. Another fine guess, but you say wrong sai.

breath?
I should certainly hope that you mean to draw breath. Besides, even when someone breaths right in your face you can't see it. You say wrong sai.

An unspoken truth cannot be seen, even when it close to you, though it can certainly be heard or understood. You say wrong sai.
